As the weather turns warmer, many of us have the desire to fight cabin fever and seek some outdoor entertainment. While you may be thinking about a variety of nature activities, why not consider something a little different and fun for the whole family. The Wild Hog Explosion at Mansfield Park promises to be something you’re family has never experienced before. Read on to find out more about the one of a kind event known as the Wild Hog Explosion.
Wild Hog Explosion Details
The Wild Hog Explosion is an annual event featuring a wild hog catch and a slew of other activities throughout the day. This year the event is being held on March 18, 2017, at Mansfield Park in Bandera, TX. It is billed as a fast-paced, “action-packed day of fun” for the entire family and even provides you an opportunity to get in on the action yourself before the day is over. Admission for adults is $8 per person, $4 per person for children 6 to 12, and is free for children 5 and under.
The Hog Catch
The hog catch is the main attraction of the event and features two-person teams attempting to catch a fearsome Texas wild hog and then race towards the finish line. The best team in each of the three weight divisions is awarded commemorative belt buckles. There are lightweight and medium-weight divisions for tweens, teens, and women as well as a heavyweight division for the men. There is even a runt and shoat piglet scramble for kids ages 3-9 so everyone in the family can get in on the action.
If the hog catch wasn’t enough, the Wild Hog Explosion also features arts and crafts, live music, and a barbecue cook-off competition. The barbecue With all the activities this event has to offer, it promises to be fun for the entire family. Additionally, the entry fee and supplies for the barbecue cook-off competition are tax deductible contributions to the Kronkosky Library of Bandera County.
